Day 17: Wow

Just had my second Fit test two nights ago and I just have to say "WOW!". Honestly, after two weeks on this program I didn't feel like any results were happening. While no physical results are noticeable (yet), I definitely did improve in strength and endurance. Here are my results, all but one have increased in numbers:

  1. Switch Kicks - 61
  2. Power Jacks - 57
  3. Power Knees - 100
  4. Globe Jumps - 10
  5. Suicide Jumps - 10
  6. Push-up Jacks - 15
  7. Low Plank Oblique - 19
The only number that didn't increase was my Switch Kicks. I actually stayed at the same at 61. I'm feeling great after these results and it has given me the motivations to keep going now. Last night I had the Cardio Circuit which I'm getting better with, but still struggling through. Tonight I have Pure Cardio and Cardio Abs, two different workouts which I believe combines into about 45 minutes total. I should go get started on that shortly now.

Day 11: almost

I almost fell off the bandwagon for this program. Last week I missed two days, first because it was Day 3 and my legs were just in excruciating pain from Day 2's (first real day) workout. Then on Saturday, I was officiating games all day that I wouldn't have enough energy to complete the day if I squeezed in a workout somewhere.

Then on Monday, I was doing a very important Varsity game which I could not risk injuring myself during the workout. Tuesday, I went into my part time job for the morning and then was busy the rest of the day that I just could not squeeze in an Insanity workout. Almost giving up thinking I missed too many in the first two weeks, I decided I better get back into it yesterday, which I did.

Yesterday I had the Circuit Cardio which, just like last week, I barely survived, but too more breaks than I think I should have. It was tough, but I do feel like I'm getting stronger just a bit, despite missing a few workouts. Today was a Cardio recovery day, which was a good workout. Definitely feeling good after today. Let's see if I can stick with the plan now that basketball season is pretty much over for me. Saturday will be tough, but I'm going to try to squeeze in a workout one way or another.

Day 3

Today is Day three. Yesterday I had the "Plyometric Cardio Circuit" workout which was pretty intense. My legs, back, shoulder, abs, and chest are all burning today. I made it through the workout, but with more rests than I really actually should have used. Just some of those exercises I couldn't get through each circuit totally.

I'm almost considering taking today off just because my right lower leg is the sorest of my whole body and I almost can't walk on it. Something inside of me is pushing me to do the video, which I will probably do later tonight around 9 or so.

Day 1: Fitness Test

Hi, My name is Zach. I started this blog up to give me the motivation to do the workout every day as prescribed. While I probably won't write every single day, I will try to write at least twice a week, especially the first few weeks as I try to get used to this program. Here's my story:

Last week I thought I'd give the Insanity Workout, by Team Beachbody and instructed by Sean T, after seeing a commercial for it on TV. Turns out, a friend of mine has the full package and because of time issues he's not able to use it now. So I am borrowing it for the next 60-some days to see if it really gives the results as seen on TV.

Today, I started with the Day 1 Fitness Test. It definitely opened my eyes to see how much out of shape I really am. I mean, I'm an athletic guy, played basketball and soccer for most of my life and now I've been a cyclist-in-training for the last 3+ years. But due to lack of training over the last few months, it seems like my muscles are in relax mode too. With the Road cycling season coming up quickly, I need a quick boost of endurance, energy and fitness. I think Insanity can do that for me.

Here are my results from today's Fitness Test, reps per minutes:
  1. Switch Kicks (2 kicks = 1 rep) - 61
  2. Power Jacks - 54
  3. Power Knees - 80
  4. Power Jumps - 30
  5. Globe Jumps - 8
  6. Suicide Jumps - 6
  7. Push-up Jacks - 9
  8. Low Plank Oblique - 11
As shown here, I was full of energy at the beginning of the 25-30 minute video. Halfway through, it shows I just ran out of energy. My endurance is lacking badly right now.

Well, I hope to increase these numbers, especially the last 4, dramatically over the next 60 days. Throughout the whole program there are 5 fitness tests, including Day 1. Soon I will be posting a before picture that I took earlier today just before starting. I will post pictures throughout the program as well, likely every week or so.

Thank you for reading, and I hope my results will give you the proof you need to try out the Insanity Workout!
